Many people still want to know what the difference is between Remedial Massage and Myotherapy.

While Massage is used to treat a wide range of soft tissue injuries and muscles pain, Myotherapy incorporates a much wider range of modalities including Cupping therapy Dry Needling (similar to Acupuncture in using the same needles)

Myotherapists also tend to use more educational consultation often with a broader range of techniques throughout the treatment.

Myotherapy is used to prevent and treat muscular injuries, pain and conditions such as scoliosis, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder and bulging or herniated discs.

Remedial Massage on the other hand is largely used for general maintenance and relaxation, which in our view is absolutely worthwhile and wonderful.

Myotherapy however is more frequently used in a similar way to Physiotherapy or Osteopathy, in treating injuries, but is known to be more hands on manual treatment than Physio.

Myotherapy has a focus on educating clients in corrective self care for the prevention of future complaints.

Remedial Massage on the other hand, will treat the presenting pain symptoms to provide relief, which without any lifestyle changes, will most likely be temporary.

A good remedial Massage therapist will also offer wisdom around how to address the cause of the pain with home care.

Remedial Massage is a form of manual therapy where Myotherapy incorporates modalities such as Dry Needling and Cupping with Remedial Massage for Muscular pain  and injury recovery.
